Projects
Our Work
We believe in listening to our members, shaping events based on their interests and feedback. Whether it’s organizing mindfulness activities to promote mental well-being or hosting discussions that connect psychology to cultural and societal themes, our goal is to create spaces where students can connect, learn, and grow—both academically and personally.
Impact Through Volunteering
Over the past two years, we have connected more than 20 student volunteers to TeenTalk, a peer support program that trains students to provide confidential, nonjudgmental guidance on mental health, relationships, and stress management. These volunteer sessions, which span the entire school year, allow students to engage in direct mental health advocacy, develop crisis response and active listening skills, and contribute meaningfully to their community. Through this initiative, our members gain real-world experience in psychology while making mental health support more accessible for their peers. Interested in joining us? It's not too late! The Psych Report: Research, Stories, and Expert Insights
Our team of engaged researchers is constantly scouring the latest studies, discoveries, and compelling stories in psychology to bring fresh insights to our community. From groundbreaking research to real-world experiences of individuals personally affected by psychological phenomena, we make complex ideas accessible and relevant. As part of our Expert Series, club leaders are interviewing global thought leaders in psychology and sharing their perspectives in this public newsletter. With schoolwide engagement, we aim to bridge the gap between research and everyday life, making social science research widely accessible for the community.

Facilitating DEI Workshop: Gender and Marketing
We led an interactive workshop exploring how gender stereotypes influence marketing strategies and consumer behavior. Several groups of participants examined real-world examples of gendered advertising and discussed the societal implications of these tactics, sparking conversations on how to challenge biases in media and commerce.

Psychological Analysis of Films: Collaboration with Korean Culture Club
In partnership with the Korean Culture Club, we hosted a screening and discussion of Parasite, analyzing its portrayal of class conflict, societal expectations, and family dynamics through a psychological lens. The event combined cultural and behavioral insights, offering a fresh perspective on one of Korea’s most acclaimed films.

Speaker Event Series
We were honored to host Dr. Yu-Wei Wang from the University of Maryland, an esteemed Associate Clinical Professor and Research Director at the Counseling Center + several other APA fellows! As one of those APA fellows, Dr. Wang’s research spans immigrant identity, mental health, and multicultural psychology. Her insights on acculturation, stress, and resilience offered students a deeper understanding of the immigrant experience and the challenges of balancing cultural heritage with societal assimilation.

Supporting Student Mental Wellness: Counseling Services & Mindfulness Access
We’re committed to supporting student well-being by connecting them with Peddie Counseling and Psychological Services, or CAPS, providing access to professional mental health resources. Beyond campus support, we promote public well-being through regular mental health reminders and free access to the Headspace mindfulness app for youth, helping students build resilience and mindfulness in their daily lives.

Brain Boost Fondue x Bon Appétit Collaboration
During final exams, we partnered with the Bon Appétit Student Culinary Club to introduce students to flavanols—dopamine-boosting compounds found in chocolate and brain-friendly fruits. Backed by neuroscience research, we provided studies on the cognitive benefits of flavanols while offering a hands-on way to experience their effects. Students enjoyed a fondue station featuring dark chocolate and nutrient-rich fruits, all while practicing mindful eating techniques to enhance focus and stress relief. This collaboration combined psychology and nutrition to support both mental well-being and academic performance.
